Anterior Hip | Fort Wayne Orthopedics

The Anterior Alternative

When hip replacement surgery becomes necessary, patients often have a lot of questions. What are the risks? How long is the recovery? How soon can I return to work and daily life?

At FWO, we offer an alternative hip replacement surgery option called the anterior hip replacement approach. While a traditional hip replacement may still be the best option for some cases, FWO is able to offer the anterior hip approach to many patients suffering from arthritis and chronic hip issues.

By accessing the hip joint from the front, rather than the back, the anterior hip approach is less invasive—for less pain, fewer restrictions and a shorter recovery time. In fact, 80% of our anterior hip replacement patients are able to go home the day after surgery and return to normal activity in as little as two weeks.
