The FWO Musculoskeletal Institute houses a contemporary surgical center designed specifically for a wide range of orthopaedic procedures. When surgery is the best treatment option, doctors can choose from four full-scale orthopaedic operative suites.

Advances in arthroscopy and microvascular techniques, new materials and implants available to surgeons, and new equipment mean surgeons can perform many procedures as outpatient or "ambulatory" surgeries. Fully equipped for arthroscopy, each operating room also provides laminar air flow to provide the best possible surgical environment. Another unusual aspect of the operating rooms is their access to natural lighting - a subtle but consistent feature found throughout the Institute.

The five rooms for 23-hour recovery look more like hotel rooms, with tasteful furnishings and a color television and VCR hidden discretely behind the doors of a wooden entertainment center. Parents and family members can watch the arthroscopic procedure live via a TV monitor in a private waiting room.

Fort Wayne Orthopaedics' Surgicenter is accredited by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care, Inc. (AAAHC). To achieve accreditation, Fort Wayne Orthopaedics Surgicenter underwent an extensive on-site survey of its facilities and services. A survey team composed of physicians and health care administrators evaluated all aspects of patient care. The survey's favorable findings resulted in accreditation.
