He is a graduate of Indiana University School of Medicine and conducted his Residency in Orthopaedic Surgery at Mayo Graduate School of Medicine, Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minnesota. Dr. Shugart completed his Fellowship in Spine Surgery at San Francisco Spine Institute in San Francisco, California. He is Board Certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. Dr. Shugart is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the North American Spine Society, International Society for Minimal Intervention in Spine Surgery, the Scoliosis Research Society, and the Fort Wayne Medical Society.
